Card declined when adding a card during a half-price offer: Will the coupon be deducted and voided?
If card binding fails and the charge is declined, will the half-price coupon be swallowed by the system? A detailed explanation of the coupon's locked status after a payment interruption, plus practical steps to safely unlock the coupon and rebind with a different card.
1. Will the coupon be swallowed by the system?
Rest assured: it will absolutely not be voided!
In Stripe's transaction processing mechanism, a coupon is only redeemed and marked as used when a transaction actually returns Status: Succeeded, meaning the charge was successful.
If a card issue causes a Card declined message, that session will be rolled back directly, and the discount eligibility remains fully preserved in your account.
2. The right way to unlock it
Close the current failed payment tab and leave it for 5 minutes to wait for the underlying Session to release automatically. Then click Upgrade again to bring up a new checkout, enter a legitimate overseas physical commercial card number, and charge it again.
